An inspiration can come from anywhere. The last place I expect it to come from is from an exhibit. Mainly because exhibits are pretentious. Well, at least most of the times.

I was lucky to be in Zurich around the time there was a Charlotte Perriand Show at the Gestaltung Museum. First of all, the exhibition was beautifully planned & curated. And Charlotte's work is one of the most inspiring I have ever seen. Her acute sense of awareness for all things around & her interpretation of this into wonderful objects, art, photography, furniture, jewellery. Certain pieces were so modern that the fact that they were designed in the 1930s stumped me. I won't be exaggerating by saying I almost cried.

Another surprise was Charlotte's wonderful sense of styling herself, maybe not so much a surprise since good taste is an inherent quality that goes hand in hand with good aesthetics.

I love the new trend of high waisted pants. Love it. Except all the pictures I see online are from the front. What about the back? I mean what exactly goes on there? Is the back area supposed to look little floppy & weird? Because that's what happened when I tried them a couple of times at Zara! Really. What about the back?

...since I wrote. And for a good reason. I have been busy as hell. But one visit to my favorite blogs and my mind is charged up again. With wonderful thoughts about clothes & accessories & everything that i could do with them.Here what i bought yesterday. Its for 400INR. That makes it 8 dollars. Is it not totally worth it?

I admire when people do things that i can't. Like style and mix a lot of stuff and create a look which is still in harmony. My way of looking at things is more 'minimal' of sorts. In this picture love the way checks mix with paisleys & the red juxtaposed with the black and white print & the guy wearing pastels & his shirt sticking out a bit & the whole mood being so romantic &.. ok enough of that. Its just so lovely.

I came across Karla's Closet recently and have been blown away by her style. I am not someone who raves about random people. Really. But there are many reasons why I heart her.
1. Her hair. Its a bold statement.
2. She is not a stick insect. She got a normal woman's body and does not look emancipated in any of the pictures. Inspite of that, each of her outfits look stylish and yet beautiful in a classic way.
3. She's got a really nice way of putting simple things together and then adding a subtle twist to it. Totally my thing!
4. Last but not the least. She does not try too hard, with her outfits or even for her camera posing.

Hmm.. so I have nothing to say and nothing to upload! So what shall I blog about? I could talk about some really profound thoughts but really.. who wants any profoundness these days? So random petty things then..

Been checking blogs and seems Garance Dore has the same problem as me! She does not like her own pictures and believes she looks better in real life! :) Bang on! Danny Roberts is rocking as ever. He loves to draw and thats what he does! If life was so simple for all, we would have many more happy poeple around us! But then mostly we are scared to do what we love and definitely don't love what we do! Here's lil bit awesomeness from him.

One noteworthy incident has been discovery of a leather slingbag at my aunts house! Conversation went on something like this. She goes 'Is this bag any good?' I go 'Umm.. Its got the vintage look' She goes 'It is vintage. Been lying with me for 10 years!' I go (in my mind) 'Some vintage is better than no vintage'(out loud) ' Can i have it?' YEY and now i have a nice leather slingbag. Life is fair. Feels good.(Pics to be uploaded soon)

BTW I keep coming across pictures of these 2 angelic twins everywhere! Is there any way to filter them out? Cause their beauty and serenity chokes me. Actually I am surprised to be alive till today!

is that it's hard to find a perfect one. I got a brown benetton one which cost me good money and has lasted for a while now. But its not 'the' one. 'The' one would be soft and yet tough, will hold and yet fold, will have personality but never look silly, so on and so forth. The search is on, meanwhile loving this way of doing the belt.. seems to be catching on!

For the past few months I have been following style & trends sites religiously bookmarking what comes my way. Looking back I realize a lot of the looks & trends are looking silly already just a couple of months later. But also there are some that are awesome & probably would stay awesome years later. Those are timeless. Timeless classics is the way to go. If you are spending big, pick up clothes and accessories that will stay with you for a long long time. Things that have value beyond being trendy. It doesn't matter if its a simple summer dress or heeled shoes. All are good as long as they are classics.

As I go through fashion mags/sites, I tend to come across a lot of good fashion. But only a teeny weeny bit of it tends to stay in my mind... probably because I have such short memory span. The first time I saw these pictures, must have been the very day they were released online. But since then I have revisited the page again and then again. Why?

Well, it's the most perfect show ever! The concept, the mood, the mystery, the clothes... almost everything is spot-on! Spot-on as the designer's vision. And the time at which the show happened, must have been dusk, it is the perfect time to bring across the mystique and the mood. The clothes seem to transcend all the boundaries & yet have an identity which is strong and pure.

Thats the word for this outfit. A beautiful mix of colors & a silhouette that's so complex yet alluring. The purple & the brown lend a warmth to the grey that makes it all so complimenting to her. The bag and hair just finish it off so very fine.
